Juneau County Amateur Radio Club Ares/Races
October 12, 2011
Present: John N, Nancy N, Jim R, Jim Batka, Kris Batka, Tom Liska, Sandy Eberlein, Gary Sorensen, Larry D., Matt B, Bruce L, Bud K, Sandy K, John Dalla Valle, Howard F., Jim J,
Meeting called to order by Jim R. at 7:05 PM. Minutes were posted on the website but were not read at this time. Motion made to dispense with the minutes from Sept by Jim J and was second by John N. All Approved. Secretary’s report was given by John N. Nothing is outstanding at this time. Motion made to accept by Jim J and was second by Larry D. all approve.
Elections: Nominations will be taken at the November 9th meeting for all elected officials. Jim J will be in charge of this and will be making out sheets and will have the necessary items for nominations. A motion was made by Howard and second by John N to have Jim J handle this process.
With nothing further for the radio club Howard gave his report for the Ares /Races at 7:37 pm
There was a brief discussion on the Conference which took place on the same weekend as the Pumpkin Bash. Howard F was named EC of the Year for the State of WI. Congrats to Howard F on his accomplishment. Also congrats to John N for first place in the Chili cook off and Nancy N for her bread. Both took first place at the pumpkin bash. Both won prizes from Kudicks for first place winners. Second place winners received prizes from Park Oasis. Congrats to all.
Kickapoo Dam River Challenge: We assisted Vernon County with this event. From what we were told there were 485 participants and all went well without a hitch. Dave O will have a final assessment to give us when he is finished with it.
Please thank Bud Welsh for donating a new antenna for the 85 machine. The 442.275 should be on the air and operational on or around Oct 15-16.
When you get a chance please welcome the new EC of Sauk Co., Drew Smith. We wish him well in his new undertaking. This meeting has concluded at 7:48 and will be turned over to our guest speakers for this evening Jim and Kris Batka on message handling. Thanks to both of them for attending our meeting tonight and also Tom Liska for giving us an update on his upcoming trip.
Our next meeting will be held on November 9th at 7:00 PM at Mauston City Hall 4th floor Community Room.

June 8, 2011
The meeting was called to order by President Jim Rey at 7:00pm. There were no minutes or treasurers report given. Howard Fisher gave a report on the Armed Forces Day Parade in Camp Douglas on May 21, 2011. The club then had a discussion of Ares/Races availability to emergency situations. The club will help with the Kickapoo Kicker bike race on June 25, 2011in Vernon County. Bruce Lange will check with John Hamms on a fall fundraiser. The GRABAAWR annual bike tour will pass through the county on June 23. 2011 and use the club repeater. Motion by Jim Jasinski to adjourn. Seconded by Chris Lange and carried.

Juneau County Amateur Radio Club Ares/Races
July 13, 2011

& Chris L.
Meeting called to order at 7PM by Jim R. Secretary’s report for June was given by Bruce L. Motion accept made by Larry and was second by John DallValle.
Approved. Treasurers report was given by John N. Motion made to accept by Mike and second by Jim J. approved.
Old Business: none at this time.
Repeater issues: there was a brief discussion regarding some issues that need to be addressed with the repeater at the S. Tower site. Saturday July 23rd at 8AM has been set aside for several members to go out to get the repeater and take it to Jim R. home. John will get the key for the site.
Chile Cook-off: John DallaValle is in charge of organizing and gave a brief report to the members present. After meeting with the Bash Committee it has been decided this event will only be one day on Saturday for about 2-3 hours or as long as the chili holds out. We will also have a bread contest coinciding with this also. More updates to follow.
Nancy will be taking care of obtaining the community room and paying for the post office box when it is time for their renewal.
VE Testing secessions are available at Bud W. house on Sunday mornings for new licenses and for upgrades. Contact Bud if interested.
Just a reminder our ID tags will be expiring in December so we will have to get together for updating them.
With nothing further for club business the floor was turned over to Howard at 7:36PM for the Ares/Races portion of this meeting. Motion made by John and second by Howard to adjourn. Approved.
Howard started this meeting by mentioning the article in QST Magazine regarding the 2010 SET Test and how well Juneau Cty did on it. John N mentioned he has written to Steve Ewald and read all who were present his response. Howard thanked all for a job well done.
4th of July Parade in Adams: Had 10 Operators and things went fairly smooth. Still need to address a few issues but all went very well.
Fund raisers: Bruce L. is still checking on Wo Zha Wa Days with John Hamm.
Triathlon Updates: It is still scheduled for Sept 24th. Larry D and Terry (Vernon Co.) will incident commanders for this event. There has been an idea to involve the Sheriffs Dept. and Wonewoc facilities more this year.
2011 SET Test: Saturday Oct 1. We will be assisting Vernon Co with another Triathlon Funding. More details to follow.
Trailer updates: Funding has been slow in coming but it is still a work in progress and some progress has been made.
Kickapoo Kicker update: there will be a meeting at St Joes Hospital on Tuesday July 19th at 6:30PM. We could have used more members to cover certain areas. There were checks sent out by race officials for some mileage reimbursement.
With nothing further the entire meeting was adjourned at 8:10PM. Next Zilch is scheduled for August 8th at 7PM at KwikTrip, with the monthly meeting on Wed August 10th, 7PM at Mauston City Hall 3th floor Community Room.
